Your health and wellness is a personal thing. I get that.
In the world we live in, we’re constantly shown photos of super skinny women in magazines and everywhere we look there are these “magical solutions” and “quick fixes” that will supposedly make you lose the weight, love your life, and poop rainbows in just 21 days!
But, my dear, that’s just NOT the truth.
If you want to actually get healthy; if you want to lose weight and feel good in your body; if you want to wake up every morning and feel immense gratitude for what you have; you have to do the work. BUT, the “work”, doesn’t have to suck.
Getting healthy can be an amazing time in your life. Taking control of your health is an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and figure out who you really are and what you want. It’s the chance to take care of yourself the way you take care of everyone else. It’s a time to make connections with other women who are taking the time to improve their health too.
You don’t have to spend your life in a body that’s 6 sweet teas away from a diagnosis. You don’t have to walk around in clothes you don’t even like. You don’t have to wonder what life could be like if you could just stick to a diet.
I’m serious. Maybe you saw that photo of me at the top of the page and thought “Pshhh- what does she know about being overweight, stressed out, and dissatisfied with life?!” The truth is, A LOT.
Picture this: I’m 34 years old, with two beautiful children, and a wonderful husband. From the outside looking in, things look pretty good. But on the inside, I was crumbling. I felt lost and confused. I was so stressed that my hair was falling out (100% serious). I loved being a mother and wife, but outside of those roles, I had lost my identity. Cue ALL THE TEARS.
I was a mess.
One afternoon, my husband, William, came home from the doctor with an ultimatum. Improve your health or go on cholesterol medication. That was the final straw for me.
We knew William was a little overweight according to his BMI, but this still came as a shock. It made us think about all of the WHAT IFs. What if we didn’t get this under control? What if we didn’t get our health and happiness in order? It was a reminder that life doesn't last forever. It was a reminder that there are so many things we don’t have control of but we DO have control of how we treat our bodies. We control what we eat and whether or not we exercise. We control how much “me” time we take. We control the quality of our lives.
William and I agreed it was time to commit to being healthier. I took over the meal planning and he was in charge of fitness.
As we started to make changes, I got to know myself a whole lot better as all of my personal stuff bubbled to the surface. I knew I had to figure out my mini identity crisis and get back to ME. I had to rediscover who I was and what I wanted. I had to become the master of my destiny.
I reached out to my holistic doctor, started journaling, and began focusing on self-love. I fed myself and my family foods that nourished our bodies and started doing things that brought me joy. As a full blown city girl, I was shocked to find that I loved working in the garden. Boom, I found my happy place.
Over the years, I’ve talked to thousands of women about improving their health and creating lives they love. Sometimes it takes a doctor scaring the crap out of you, sometimes it takes living in a fog for a year, sometimes it takes your kid calling you “mean” (yeah, that happened to me too).
When you get to the place where you feel like “I want more! Enough is enough! I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired!” . . . that’s where Fundamental Health Solutions meets you.
When you declare that you WANT THIS, that you want to be look and feel your best, that you want to be around to hold your grandkids, that you want to be able to wear clothes that make you feel good, then we’re here to help you.
I created Fundamental Health Solutions because your health and happiness is VITAL. We want you to feel your best, to be surrounded by spirited, sassy, soulful women on similar inspiring journeys, and to feel better than ever. We want you to feel like you’re the best mom/wife/woman that you can be.
